The Offices of Student Life, Human Resources, the University Registrar, and the Chief Information Officer are pleased to announce a change to online directory services: Find People (http://www.osu.edu/findpeople.php). Name, e-mail address, and academic program information will continue to display for students who have not requested that this directory information be withheld. Work appointment information will also continue to be displayed. (For more information about the privacy and release of student records, please visit http://www.ureg.ohio-state.edu/ourweb/more/Content/ferpa_pg1.html.) This change is effective March 30, 2009. ePayroll PINs Expire February 15th and Every 90 Days Afterward
As part of the university's ongoing commitment to secure employee personal information and as required by our ePayroll vendor (TALX),beginning on February 15, 2009, employees accessing the ePayroll System will be prompted to change their PIN every 90 days.
When you are prompted to change your PIN, you will not be required to answer questions to verify your identity as long as you know your current PIN. To reset your PIN, go to Ohio State's ePayroll web site at epayroll.theworknumber.com/osu. Keep in mind that your new PIN must be composed of at least 8 numeric digits, and must not repeat a PIN that you have used within the last 18 months.
Changing PIN's regularly is a good security practice, and changing them every 90 days is consistent with the password change policy on many important OSU systems, including the university's PeopleSoft administrative systems.
If you have forgotten your PIN, go to epayroll.theworknumber.com/osu and click on "Forgot your PIN". If you have any questions, please e-mail Payroll Services at mailto:epay@hr.osu.edu or call the TALX Customer Service Center at 1-866-678-3729.

Social Security Number No Longer Required for Dental Plan (HR News, Jan 26, 2009)
Previously, Social Security numbers (SSN) were the only way for Delta Dental to identify faculty and staff as plan participants. Now, Ohio State ID numbers may be used (listed on Employee ID and Delta Dental cards). Delta Dental mailed ID cards to all faculty and staff enrolled in the dental plan. Delta Dental’s system does require a nine-digit alternative identification number, so faculty and staff with:
- An eight-digit Ohio State Employee ID, your Delta Dental ID is your Employee ID with a leading zero added to it.
- A nine-digit Ohio State Employee ID, your Delta Dental ID is your Employee ID with no changes.
You should present the new card when you visit the dentist in 2009. However, claims can be processed using the alternative ID number or your SSN. Continuing to use your SSN will not cause a lapse in claims processing.

STUDENTS TO RECEIVE THEIR ASSIGNED OSU ID NUMBER -REPLACING SOCAL SECURITY NUMBER
Beginning Monday, September 29, 2008, students can obtain their 9-digit OSU number by logging into by logging into buckeyelink.osu.edu and selecting the “Lookup your OSU ID Number” link, which is located on the student tab in the personal information section. As a security and privacy measure, the OSU ID number replaces SSN as the main identifier for students, providing a higher level of identity protection for students, as well as all student related data systems. While some students may not need to know their OSU ID number until the new Student Information System (SIS) is fully implemented later in 2009, students who have signed up for Student Health Insurance will need to obtain their OSU ID number now in order to print their insurance card and/or to apply for Student Financial Aid later this year.
