REMINDER TO COMPLETE INSTITUTIONAL DATA POLICY TRAINING
Have you completed the training course on the Institutional Data Policy? If not, now is the time to do so. Authorized users of one (or more) of the centrally administered systems are required to access and complete the training module. This includes users of PeopleSoft, eReports Portal, Admissions, Student Financial Aid, MARX, BARS, RegWeb (Registrar's website), Alma Mater, Impact and the Operational Data Store.
The training module was developed to support the new Institutional Data policy and to educate users on responsible data practices. The Institutional Data policy was approved by President's Cabinet on May 2, 2007 and went into effect October 18, 2007.
The training is available on Carmen, the University's course management and training system. A link to Carmen and the Institutional Data Policy Training can be found on the BuckeyeSecure website at buckeyesecure.osu.edu. Instructions for accessing the training are also available on the BuckeyeSecure website. You will need your lastname.# and associated password in order to login to Carmen.
It will take approximately 30 minutes to complete the training materials, including a final assessment and acceptance/submission of the Institutional Data Usage and Confidentiality Agreement, which is necessary to fulfill the training requirement. You are encouraged to complete this training module prior to December 31st.
Questions regarding the training should be directed to the Office of the CIO.
TO PROTECT PRIVACY RIGHTS, KEY/CARD ELIMINATES USE OF SSN
Given the concern surrounding privacy and identify theft, the Key/Card Control Center has eliminated the use of Social Security Numbers as a means of identification. As of Monday (10/1), Facilities Operations and Development has upgraded the three systems - Lenel, MDI and Keystone - that manage card access and brass keys to utilize alternative forms of identification. It is no longer necessary to provide SSN when requesting card access and brass keys. Faculty and staff will use their OSU employee ID and students will need to provide their name.# as an identifier. For Key Card/Control Center information, visit http://fod.osu.edu/kccc/.
