Gramm-Leach-Bliley Training
Gramm-Leach-Bliley is a federal regulation that was passed in 1999. The act covers all institutions and companies where banking and credit card information is handled. The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act requires institutions like The Ohio State University to protect confidential information. As a member of the university, you have an important responsibility for protecting the data entrusted to you and for helping to make sure that only those who have been approved are given access to the data.
The training began in June 2008. This training module is a key component to understanding the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and what your role and responsibilities include in order to protect data under this act.

Instructions for Accessing the Training
- Login to Carmen (https://carmen.osu.edu/)
- Select the login button
- Enter your OSU Internet Username (lastname.#) and password, and click the “login” button.
- Your Carmen My Home page will open.
- Under My Courses, select the Student tab and click the + □ (box) next to Special. This will open the course list of courses.
- Select the □ (box) next to Offices of the CIO.
- Select the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Training link.
- Once you are in the course, follow the instructions in the Welcome box on the course home page.
If the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Training link is not available, please contact our training support staff.
How to Verify You Have Completed the Training
- Login to the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Training course within Carmen (https://carmen.osu.edu/).
- Select the Quizzes link in the course's red Navigation bar.
- A list of all available quizzes in the course is shown. Next to each quiz is a number indicating the number of attempts you have taken and the quiz submissions view icon.
- Select the submissions view icon (
). If you successfully submitted a quiz, it will be shown here.
