BuckeyePass Tokens
The BuckeyPass Token project provides the infrastructure to allow campus-wide applications and services to utilize Two-factor Authentication. The infrastructure consists of two redundant RSA SecurID Authentication Servers, and a Distribution Manager server to assist with allocation, approval and distribution of tokens.
Users of certain systems and applications may be required to use a BuckeyePass token, which provides more security than a password alone. If you are one of these users, you will have been contacted by your system or local administrator. The following resources are available to you:
- User Instructions for requesting and activating tokens
- General User Information
- Glossary of Important Terms

What is Two-Factor Authentication?
Two-factor authentication is based on the concept of using two separate items (something you know and something you have) to validate a user’s identity and his or her appropriate access level. The BuckeyePass tokens are small computer devices that use something you have - the token, and something you know - an alpha-numeric PIN, to grant access to systems that require a higher level of security than a simple password provides. The tokens display a 6-digit code called a tokencode that changes every 60 seconds. Users enter their alpha-numeric PIN along with the tokencode for authentication.

Where Do I Pick-Up My Token?
First, you will receive confirmation that your request for a token is approved. In general, BuckeyePass tokens can be picked up at the IT Service Desk (Central Classrooms Building 025). However, distribution sites are created for large user groups.
Please check our BuckeyePass Token User page to determine where your distribution site is located!
